Terms of Use
These are the rules of using GetHired, in plain language. The highlighted sections decide what happens to money.
What GetHired is
- GetHired is a marketplace. It introduces people who want work done to people who do that work, and handles the booking and the payment in between.
- We are not an employer, a contractor, or an agency. Workers are independent — they set their own price, choose which jobs to accept, and decide how the work is done.
- We do not supervise, direct, inspect or guarantee any work. We were not there.
- Everything in the app runs automatically to fixed rules. There is no person deciding your booking, your payment or your rating.
Your account
- You sign in with your email address and a 6-digit PIN, or with your Google account.
- A new account is confirmed by email before it exists at all. Until you open that link, nothing has been created.
- Your email address is how you sign in, how a crew invites you, and how we reach you about a job.
- We ask for your mobile number for one purpose: money. The payment provider requires it to take a payment, and a payout needs a number that reaches you. It is not a contact detail here — it is never shown to the other party in a booking, never used to advertise to you, and never sold or given to anyone except the payment provider handling that payment.
- Your email address is never shown to the other party in a booking. Crew members you have accepted see each other’s, because a crew has to coordinate.
- One account can act as a customer and as a worker. You switch between them in the app.
- You must be 18 or older to use GetHired.
- Keep your PIN and your email account secure. Anything done from your signed-in account is treated as done by you.
- Give real information. A false name, photo or ID may get the account removed.
How a booking works
- You pick a category, choose one or more workers in your area, and send the request.
- Each worker accepts or declines individually, within a short window. Nobody is assigned to you and nobody is forced to take a job.
- If a worker does not answer in time, the request lapses and you can invite someone else.
- Once at least one worker has accepted, you go to checkout and pay before the work starts.
- If you do not pay within the payment window, the booking is cancelled automatically and no money is taken.
- The app is open for booking between fixed hours each day. Outside those hours you can browse, but new bookings cannot be started.
The QR: who is responsible for what
- Attendance is recorded by two scans. The customer shows a QR code; the worker scans it. One at the START of the job, one at the END.
- THE WORKER is responsible for scanning BOTH codes. Turning up is not enough — an unscanned job is an unrecorded job.
- THE CUSTOMER is responsible for showing BOTH codes when asked. Refusing or forgetting to show the END code stops the worker being paid for work they may well have done.
- The QR can also be sent into the in-app chat, so it can be scanned even if you are not standing together.
- Both scans are what release the money. This is the entire record of what happened, and it is the only one we have.
- If the END scan is not done by the daily deadline, the booking closes automatically: the wage is returned to the customer and the worker is paid nothing for it.
- That outcome is produced by a program on a timer. It is not a judgement about who was right.
Prices, fees and payment
- Workers set their own daily rate, and rates differ between workers and between categories. Prices may change at any time.
- The amount shown to you at checkout is the amount you will be charged for that booking. It includes the platform costs of providing the service.
- A platform fee is shown as its own line at checkout.
- Taxes, including GST, may be added in future. Any tax will be shown before you pay — you will never be charged something you were not shown.
- A booking keeps the amounts it was created with. Changing our rates later never re-prices a booking that already exists.
- Payments are handled by a licensed payment provider. We do not see or store your card, UPI ID or bank details.
- We may change which provider we use. It makes no difference to a payment you have already made: that money stays with the provider that took it, and any refund of it comes back through that same provider.
- A platform charge may be deducted from a worker's earnings as the cost of using GetHired. This charge is currently 0%. If it changes, workers will be told before it applies.
- Worker payouts are sent to the UPI ID on the worker's profile. Keeping that correct is the worker's responsibility — we pay what the profile says.
- A wage is settled once both QR codes have been scanned. It can take 3 or more days to arrive: the payment provider holds the money a customer pays for about 2 days before releasing it to us. That timing is described here — banks and holidays can lengthen it.
- If a payment, refund or wage looks wrong, contact us through Support in the app: Profile → Send feedback → Chat with us.
Cancellations and refunds
- Before you pay, cancelling costs nothing.
- If neither scan happens — nobody started the job — you are refunded in full, fees included.
- If the job started but was never finished, the wage is returned to you and the fees are not.
- If a worker leaves a paid booking, their share of the wage is returned to you.
- Refunds go back the way you paid, through the same payment provider that took the money — even if we have since changed providers. They usually take a few working days to appear, and that timing is the bank's, not ours.
- Every one of these runs automatically. None of them requires you to ask, and none of them involves anyone deciding whether you deserve it.
The one thing we take responsibility for
- There is exactly one situation where the platform accepts that a failure was ours.
- If GetHired itself was down or unreachable during the final hour before the daily deadline, and because of that the END scan could not be recorded, the money is NOT taken from anyone automatically.
- In that case the booking is held: no refund to the customer, no payout to the worker, and a person at GetHired reviews it and decides.
- We judge this from our own server records — whether our service was running and reachable at that moment. We do not judge it from what either of you tells us, because the person who benefits from being believed cannot also be the evidence.
- A phone with no signal, a flat battery, a phone left at home, an app that was not opened, or a customer who would not show the code are NOT platform failures. Those remain between the two of you.
- If nobody reviews a held booking within the review period, the customer is refunded automatically. Money is never left frozen indefinitely.
- Outside this one situation, GetHired does not decide who was right and does not compensate either side.
Ratings are the real accountability
- After a job, each side rates the other. Customers rate workers, and workers rate customers.
- Ratings are the mechanism that keeps people honest here — not us stepping in afterwards.
- A worker's rating and reliability are shown to every customer deciding whether to book them. A poor record means fewer bookings.
- A customer's rating is shown to every worker deciding whether to accept a request. A customer who wastes people's time or refuses to show the END code will find workers declining.
- Reliability is calculated from what actually happened over recent jobs — completed, accepted but never started, END never scanned, requests ignored. It is not a punishment anyone applies by hand.
- Rate honestly. Ratings are how the next person decides.
- We do not remove a rating because you disagree with it.
How to behave
- Turn up when you say you will. Say so early if you cannot.
- Agree what the job involves before it starts. Most disputes are really a disagreement about scope.
- No harassment, threats, discrimination or abuse. Ever.
- Do not ask anyone to take the job off GetHired to avoid fees. The protections here — the payment record, the attendance record, the ratings — only exist inside the app.
- Do not use the app for anything illegal, and do not ask a worker to.
- Report theft, harm, harassment or a privacy problem from the booking (Report a problem). Anything else, including payments, goes through Support in the app.
Reporting a problem and blocking
- In an emergency, call 112 first. A report in the app is read by our team; it does not send anyone to you.
- From a booking you can report the other person for theft, physical harm, threats, sexual harassment, abuse, discrimination, damage, or a privacy problem such as sharing your details, recording you without consent, contacting you outside the app or coming back uninvited. You can do this for a set period after the job.
- Reporting someone blocks them for you straight away: you will not be matched with each other, there is no chat or call between you, and neither of you can open the other's profile. You can unblock them later from Profile → Safety & reports.
- We do not tell the person who reported them.
- Our team reviews a report against records we already hold — the booking, the START and END scan times, the chat on that job, and both people's history here. The outcome can be no action, a warning, a pause on new bookings, a suspension for a set number of days, or permanent removal. You are notified when your report has been reviewed.
- If two different people make a safety report about the same person within a set period, new bookings for that person pause automatically until our team has reviewed it. One report alone never does this. Jobs already under way are not affected.
- A report does not change any payment, refund or payout. Those follow the rules above, whatever the report says.
- We cannot recover stolen property or money, and we are not an investigating authority. For theft or harm, file a police complaint; we will give the police the records we hold when they ask through the proper process.
- Making a report you know to be false, to hurt someone or to get out of paying, is itself abuse of the platform and can lead to suspension or removal.
Calls and chat
- Calls between a customer and a worker happen inside the app. No contact detail of yours is given to the other person — not your phone number, not your email address, not in the app, not in the call, not anywhere. We hold a mobile number for payments, and it is not shared here or anywhere else.
- Chat and calling open once a worker accepts, and close when the job is finished.
- Chat photos are deleted automatically after a set period. The conversation stays; the picture is replaced with a note.
- We do not listen to or record calls. Audio goes between the two phones directly, or through a relay when the networks require one.
- Support can see a support conversation you start with us. Support cannot see your chat with a worker or customer unless it is reported — when a problem is reported on a job, our team reads the chat on that job to review it.
- If the other person is blocked, chat and calls between you stop, even on a job that is still open.
What we are not responsible for
- The quality, safety, legality or timeliness of any work. We do not do the work and we are not there when it is done.
- Anything a worker or customer says, does, damages or fails to do.
- Loss, theft, injury or damage arising from a job. That is between the people involved, and where relevant, the police and the courts.
- Whether a worker is qualified, licensed or insured for what you asked. Verification of an ID document confirms identity, not competence.
- The ID badge means a document was submitted and reviewed once. It is not a police check, a criminal-record check or a character reference, and it never expires or re-checks itself. Conduct is tracked by the rating and reliability score instead: they fall when a job goes badly and recover as jobs are finished well, and both are shown to whoever is deciding next.
- Anything you agree privately outside the app, including work arranged directly or money paid in cash.
- A booking outcome produced by the automatic rules — including an unfinished job closing at the deadline — except in the platform-outage situation described above.
- Failures of your phone, your network, your bank or your UPI app.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any booking is limited to the platform fee we charged on that booking.
- Nothing here removes rights you have under Indian consumer law that cannot be signed away.
Suspension and removal
- We can suspend or remove an account that abuses the platform, other users, or these terms.
- A suspension lasts a set number of days, which we tell you along with the date it ends, and it lifts by itself on that date. While suspended you can still sign in, see your history, finish a job that is already under way and be paid for it, and contact Support. You cannot book, accept new work, go Available or appear in search. Requests not yet started are withdrawn, and a customer who paid for one is refunded.
- Removal (blocking) is permanent: you are signed out and cannot sign in, and every open booking is cancelled, with the customer refunded for anything paid. It does not end by itself.
- After a report is reviewed we may instead warn an account, or pause its new bookings until we lift the pause. A pause stops new work only; it does not touch money already owed.
- You can delete your account from Profile at any time, or ask us to by email (see get-hired.in/delete-account). You cannot delete it in the middle of a paid job — finish or cancel it first.
- For 30 days after you delete it, signing in again with the same email restores the account. After that your personal details are permanently erased, as the Privacy Policy describes.
- Records we must keep for legal, tax or accounting reasons are kept even after an account is deleted, without your name on them.
Changes to these terms
- We may update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
- Continuing to use GetHired after a change means you accept it.
- A change to fees or charges will always be shown before it applies to you.
